The prestigious Title Show championships of the second edition of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF 2022) will kick off at the magnificent sea-facing arena at Katara Esplanade on Wednesday and continue till Saturday (9-12 February).
KIAHF is being held under the generous patronage of HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and is organized by the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara in association with the Qatar Equestrian Federation, Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club, and Qatar Foundation.
The 11-day long second edition of KIAHF has already seen the successful hosting of the Arabian Peninsula Horse Show Championships, and the Auction - which set the record of world’s highest bid for embryo of international mare FT Shaella at QAR 3.2mn, on Monday.
The action will now shift to the grand Title Show. KIAHF 2022 has a whopping total-prize-money of QAR 17,083,500 of which QAR 13,990,000 is for the Title Show Championships.
This is besides the other in-kind prizes including cars and watches from Nasser Bin Khaled and Ali Bin Ali Luxury, respectively.
There is also a special prize for ‘The Legend’ (Senior category) QAR 3,000,000; and a “Special Award” for the horse which has won all categories since being a Yearling of QAR 2,000,000.
The Title Show will see 309 magnificent Arabian purebreds and podium finishers at various horse shows competing for top honours in various categories of KIAHF 2022 which has the participation of 11 countries including from the Arab region, Europe and USA.
Commenting on the class and competition of KIAHF in its on-going second edition, Nabila Al Ali, international referee from Kuwait, said, “With my experience of having participated in many horse festivals in Qatar and other countries, I feel Qatar is greatly developing in this field and the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival is a prime example of that. This standout event underlines Qatar’s stature as the equestrian capital of the Arab world.”
“KIAHF is very distinguished by its location, its grand hosting and the quality of horses participating from within and outside Qatar. The horses are among the finest and the competition close and strong. The attendance is quite high too. There is a distinct equestrian heritage atmosphere around the festival with the accompanying cultural and artistic activities,” she added.
Salman Al Hwaiti from Saudi Arabia, who is attending the festival, said KIAHF has set a benchmark and raised the levels of competition with other festivals. He expressed high admiration for the organization and the strength of participation from Qatar and overseas.
Mashek from Poland said coming to Qatar to participate in KIAHF 2022 has been an exceptional and wonderful experience.
Sultan Sailem, founder of Al-Assalah online newspaper for purebred Arabian horses from Saudi Arabia, said, “We need this kind of organization in Arab horse show championships at A level or the Title Show, and I can say that what I witness is that the excellence and perfection at KIAHF is unprecedented and hope that it will be replicated at all others festivals as well.”
