The Ministry of Municipality on Wednesday kicked off Kanar Festival at Al Mazrouah Yard in Umm Salal. The five-day festival will continue until February 13 with the sale taking place between 7 am and 5 pm each day. The festival aims to promote locally-grown fruit known as kanar. The festival seeks to promote local products, support Qatari farms and draw crowds to the yard, said Ahmed Al Yafei, Head of the Guidance and Agricultural Services Department at the Agricultural Affairs Department. Around 18 Qatari farms are taking part in the festival, bringing freshly-plucked kanars directly from the farms to the yard, he added. (TNN)
