The Embassy of Qatar in Russia opened on Tuesday the Qatari-Russian Center for Science and Education in Dagestan State University in the presence of president of the university Prof Murtazali Rabadanov, deans, members of the academic council, heads of departments, teachers and students of the university.
The inauguration of the centre is part of the programme ‘Legacy of Qatar’s Pavilion at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2021’ in which Qatar was a guest country.
The Embassy of Qatar launched Qatar pavilion legacy programme on the sidelines of the forum guided by the principles of sustainable development. Under the programme, all the pavilions’2,000 square metres furniture was donated to the opening of the ‘Qatar Science and Education Space’ in various Russian regions.
During the opening ceremony, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Qatar in Russia Abdullah Al Saei highlighted the positive development in the bilateral relations between Qatar and Russia, stressing the interest in expanding the relations with the Russian regions in various fields, including academic, scientific and educational. He noted the importance of studying the Arabic language to enhance communication and relations between the two sides, and encouraged students to study the Arabic language, calling on students of Dagestan State University to actively participate in the ‘Doha Prize’ for Arabic Language Competition.

For his part, the president of Dagestan State University expressed pleasure over opening the Qatari-Russian Center for Science and Education in Dagestan State University, which is one of the oldest and largest universities in the south of the Russia, expressing hope that the centre would promote cooperation with Qatari universities. The Qatari-Russian Center for Science and Education is set to provide scientific and research services to the university’s specialised students and teachers, and those interested in the Arabic language, Qatar’s culture and its development history.
The cooperation between the Dagestan State University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University and the Embassy of Qatar in Russia has been developing since 2020, when the university initiated projects on the Arabic language and cultural heritage in partnership with Hamad Bin Khalifa University, with the support of the Qatari Embassy in Russia.
Students of Dagestan State University participate annually in the Arabic language competition in Doha.
