Qatar Chamber First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari met with Arbi Abubakarov, deputy chairman of the committee for external relations of Saint-Petersburg government and head of foreign economic cooperation department.
Giunel Ismailova, director of international business development at Ginza project, was also present at the meeting.
The meeting touched on commercial and economic relations between both countries and ways to enhancing them, in addition to the investment opportunities available in Saint-Petersburg in various sectors.
Kuwari stressed the robustness of relations between Qatar and Russia in all fields, indicating that Qatari businessmen and investors are eager to learn about the opportunities available in Russia generally and in Saint-Petersburg in particular.
Kuwari also noted that Saint-Petersburg is a leading destination for investment, assuring that after the pandemic ends, representatives of Russian and Qatari private sector will exchange visits to further develop their cooperation and explore opportunities available in both countries and forge active partnerships.
Abubakarov lauded the significant development witnessed by Qatar in all fields, especially regarding the preparations related to the host of FIFA World Cup 2022, noting that both sides can exchange expertise in this respect as Russia hosted a successful edition of the tournament in 2018.
He said that Qatar is a leading country in foreign investments and hopes to see more investments from Qatar in most sectors such as agriculture, hospitality and real estate development.
