Qatar Charity (QC) has implemented the ‘Feed the Fasting’ project in many African countries by distributing food parcels to poor families, persons with special needs and families of orphans in Sudan, Kenya, South Africa and Ghana.
The project is being implemented as part of Qatar Charity’s ‘Ramadan of Hope’ drive.
In Sudan, 3,760 food baskets have been distributed, while 5,600 baskets will be distributed during the remaining days of Ramadan.
Some 40,000 people are expected to benefit from the project in the states of Khartoum, Gezira, the Nile River, Gedaref and Kassala in Sudan.
In Kenya, food baskets were distributed in 10 provinces of the country to benefit 1,755 needy families, aiming to help them meet their food needs in Ramadan. The families sponsored by Qatar Charity received the largest share of the food baskets.
In South Africa, 1,000 food baskets were distributed, benefiting 5,000 poor families, including the families of orphans, on the outskirts of Cape Town and the Western Cape province.
In Ghana, Qatar Charity provided 8,750 packs of iftar meals to several schools and mosques for 10 consecutive days in the Ashanti Region.
The beneficiaries expressed their delight with receiving the food baskets that come timely, especially in light of the continuing coronavirus pandemic, which has badly affected the living conditions of the vulnerable across the world.
They also thanked Qatar Charity for helping them meet their food needs in the blessed month of Ramadan.
Qatar Charity has recently distributed food parcels to poor families, persons with special needs and families of orphans in Albania, Bangladesh and Palestine.
The project was implemented in many regions of Albania where 1,400 families sponsored by Qatar Charity received food baskets.
In Bangladesh, nearly 6,500 destitute families, including families of orphans and widows of 13 districts received foodstuffs this year. In Palestine, Qatar Charity continues to distribute food parcels to the sponsored families.
