Al-Duhail was crowned Men’s Handball League champion for the 2021-22 season after defeating Al-Arabi 35-27 in the league’s 18th and final round. Al-Duhail, who had won the title before the game, increased its lead to 48 points, while Al-Wakra finished second with 45 points after defeating Qatar 28-20, and Al-Rayyan finished third with 44 points after defeating Al Khor 29-25.
President of the Qatar Handball Association (QHA), Ahmed Al Shaabi, presented the league shield to Al Duhail captain Ahmed Maddi, while Secretary General Mohamed Al Mulla crowned the team with gold medals, and member of the Associations Board of Directors Hamad Al Nuaimi presented silver medals and bronze medals to Al Wakrah (Runner-up) and Al Rayyan (Third).
Al Duhail has won the Handball League title four times, the first under its previous name (Lekhwiya) in the 2012/2013 season, the second in the 2017/2018 season, and the third in the 2020/21 season.
Adnan Al Ali, the club’s executive director, congratulated His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al-Thani, the club’s president, and Khalifa Khamis Al-Sulaiti, the club’s vice-president, and all the club’s members on Al-Duhail winning the Handball League title for the fourth time in the club’s history. In statements to the club’s official website, Al-Ali said, “Thank God, the team won the Handball League title and has managed to keep it since last season. This is something that the team should be commended for, as well as the handball team’s high level and the team’s administrative staff, who worked tirelessly to create the ideal environment for the players to put on such an amazing performance.
“With this victory, the team has won its twelfth local title, which is an achievement that counts for them, and I hope that they continue to win local and continental titles,” Al Ali added.
