The grand finale of 6th Season of Cricket Championship Trophy was held by Asian Premier League (APL) on Friday at the renovated ground of Messaieed Industrial City.
All recommended precautionary measures of COVID-19 protocols were followed. KRCC emerged as the champions defeating United Spartans by 94 runs in the final.
Having won the toss, KRCC opted to bat first and scored 175 for 7 in their allotted 15 overs.
Chasing the target, United Spartans were bowled out for 81 runs in 14.4 overs. For KRCC, Pranav Parayanthil top scored with 65 runs off 30 balls with the help of four fours and six sixes.
For United Spartans, the pick of the bowlers was Mithlesh Kumar Prasad who claimed two wickets for 34 runs off his 3 overs.
Spartans kept on losing wickets at regular intervals against some top bowling and tight fielding by KRCC.
Talha Khan was the best bowler for KRCC picking up 4 wickets for 11 runs off his 3 overs.
Pranav Parayanthil was named as the The Man of the Final for his allround show.
Best Batsman of the Tournament was awarded to Abdur Razaq of KRCC and Best Bowler of the Tournament award went to Aby Achankunju of United Spartans.
The chief guest for the event Janab Asadullah Khan, Head coach of Qatar men’s cricket team and former Cricket Director for Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).
Other guests present included Sardar Paramjeet Singh, Director of Thales Projects, and Sandeep Singh, President, Punjab Seva dal.
Mohammed Sayeed, President (APL) applauded all the participating teams of Season 6. He congratulated the winning team KRCC and praised the overall performance of United Spartans through out the Tournament in general. Sayeed expressed gratitude to patrons Ms. Light Speed Trading, M/s. Sheen Services and M/s. Imprint Advertising and APL Committee members for making this season a grand success.
Also present on the occasion were other Board Members of Asian Premier League Lutfi Kakkar, Angrez Singh and Ghulam Rasool (VP-TWA-Qatar).
The success of the tournament was attributed to the hardwork of APL Managing Committee members Mujtaba Hussain, Mohammed Ali, Imran Shareef, Rashid, Shafait Nader and Shabbir Ahmed.
